Since the pandemic, the average person is now spending a quarter of their waking life online. With the proportion of people reporting anxiety and psychological distress more than doubling since the start of the year, the importance of switching OFF from our devices has never been greater.

Isn’t it time we took a step back to reevaluate our relationship with our devices?

74% revealed that they take time off social media specifically because it’s giving them anxiety

82% of participants reportED experiencing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) when spending time away from social media

Over 88% of PAST DIGITAL DETOX DAY participants said that social media has impacted their mental health

Digital Detox Day raises awareness about the negative impact social media can have on our mental health, and helps people to form healthier relationships with their devices.

2022’s Digital Detox day is focusing on social media induced anxiety and looking at its impact on Overthinking, Online Relationships, FOMO and Social vs Reality.

Digital Detox Day will take place on the 3rd of September, when we will be asking people to step away from their phones for one whole day.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We need YOUR help to spread the word about this campaign far and wide, so that as many people as possible can join the conversation and access the tips, advice and support they need to make social media work better for their mental health.

On the 2nd of September, please share a post on your social media using our campaign symbol (pictured: the #IAMWHOLE circle with the word ‘OFF’ written inside) and tag it with #DigitalDetoxDay and @IAMWHOLEUK.

We want this to act like an ‘out of office’ so people can let their followers know that they will not be online on DDD, 3rd of September.

WE’RE TALKING ABOUT…

OVERTHINKING

ONLINE

DATING

SOCIAL VS REALITY

THROWBACK TO DIGITAL DETOX DAY 2020 AND 2021

Our past campaigns reached over 647.3 million people online and received support from the likes of Rita Ora, Sam Smith and Jade Thirlwall. A limited edition bath bomb called ‘IRL’ was created by Zoe Sugg and LUSH as part of Digital Detox Day and sold globally with £209,000 raised for the Wholeness Fund to support grassroots mental health groups. The campaign also involved switching off the Piccadilly Circus lights for the fourth time in history and hosting Discussion Panels where issues such as Body Image and Cyberbullying were discussed and shared online.
